In the heart of the wine-growing village of Savennières
A sincere cuisine, driven by a passionate team, that respects the living world and showcases our terroir.
Artisan wines—living and natural—alongside house-made cured meats.
Le Chenin takes its name from the emblematic white grape variety of Anjou, particularly associated with the Savennières appellation, located in the heart of Anjou Noir.
Savennières is also the village of the appellation, and it is here that our restaurant is located, right in the center, just opposite the church and the town hall.
We welcome you into two dining rooms: on the ground floor, you will find our large shared tables, including one set in a more private room that can host up to 10 guests. Upstairs, a sculpted tuffeau stone fireplace creates a more intimate and discreet atmosphere.
As soon as the first rays of sunshine appear, we are delighted to offer our terrace—perfect for a sunny aperitif or a meal in the shade of the parasols.
Reservations are strongly recommended.
The kitchen and the garden are one: showcasing our terroir is a priority.
We renew our menu each month to highlight seasonal vegetables and showcase the work of our partners—market gardeners, breeders, fishermen… not forgetting our 1,000 m² kitchen garden, located just a few steps from the restaurant, where we harvest daily.
Our cuisine is instinctive, product-driven, and always crafted with passion.

Professional Reviews
Facing the church in Savennières, on a charming cobbled square, a pleasant terrace precedes a red-glass façade.
In the kitchen, Arthur Favé, alongside Maïté Verriez, offers a traditional menu highlighting local products, often sourced from their extensive vegetable garden or selected organically.
The menu reflects the seasons through generous and flavorful dishes. The charming setting, blending old-world bistro charm with modern touches, invites relaxation.
The sommelier provides an excellent wine selection, mainly organic and natural, with over 400 references.
At the foot of the church, this charming bistro keeps its promise: you are in Savennières, and the Chenin is waiting for you!
The welcome sets the tone for a chef’s cuisine that knows the gentle rhythm of well-personalized local recipes: slow-cooked smoked eel, garden salsify, miso, radish and butter hollandaise, showcasing fine technique and flavor; farm pork chop with browned butter, seasonal vegetables and mushrooms in a casserole — classic dishes, perfectly executed; chocolate dessert with texture and a flawless coffee ice cream.
The wine cellar is largely focused on local selections, and the young staff are professional and engaged, bringing life to both the house and the village.
The restaurant Le Chenin, run by Arthur Favé and his partner Maïté Verriez, offers instinctive cuisine focused on respect for nature and local producers.
This respect for nature is also reflected in chef Arthur’s personal commitment, who, beyond his cooking, has developed a deep connection with the land. After years of research and learning, he created his own 1,000 m² vegetable garden, growing vegetables, fruits, and herbs of little-known varieties.
The originality of these products is directly reflected in the bistronomic menu he develops alongside his sous-chef Lorraine Dupont.
On the wine side, the restaurant highlights local vintages with a cellar of over 500 references. Through collaboration with producers, Le Chenin offers authentic wines that perfectly align with the philosophy of the place.
After the success of the Casa Jerico sandwich shop, the duo Maïté Verriez-Foene and Arthur Favé left the city of Angers in 2018 to settle in Savennières, a charming village with tuffeau stone houses, where Chenin flows abundantly.
In this top-notch bistro, the sommelier assembles fabulous wines while the chef brings local products to life – or even prepares his own bottarga. Devoured that Sunday, directly from the sunlit terrace crowded with cyclists on the go: a tempting burnt leek enlivened with home-made bottarga of grey mullet and an iodine-rich vinaigrette; Normand veal in divine pink slices, served with butter beans and a rich lemongrass jus; and for dessert, less daring but finely crafted, a chestnut Mont Blanc with frothy vanilla cream, fluttering like a little bride.
